Concerning your travel from Helsinki to Riga, the best way is to fly.
There is NO train service even part of the way.

Optionally, take the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn (may have to stay
overnight) and then we recommend the Eurolines buses from Tallinn to Riga.

Concerning language problems, you will do fine. German is spoken a lot in Latvia as
well as English.

No serious customs problems. Latvians are somewhat shy by nature so don't
be surprised if you don't get a lot of smiles.

Please take our VISITOR satisfaction survey after your trip to give us that
important feedback on how to make your visit more pleasant in the future.

Riga Airport to Sigulda.

There is no direct connection from the airport to Sigulda.

You may take a taxi right from the airport which would cost you about 40 Latvian Lats
or about 57 Euros one way.
Or, you can take a taxi or a public bus to the city center. You will need to get off at the bus stop called "Stockmann" which is beside the Stockman shopping center. This is if you will be taking the public bus. Then you will need to literally go around the corner towards the main Bus station.

A bus to Sigulda departs at 13.05. Tickets can be bought at the cashier inside the Central Bus station hall as well as on the bus.

If you take a taxi from the airport to the city center, you will then have to get off right next to the Central Bus Station.

Or, if you would like to take a train, there is one at: 14.02 Riga- Lugazi ( via Sigulda) or 15.40 Riga- Sigulda

Train station is located next to the Origo shopping center, just on the opposite side of the Central Bus station.

Shopping centers Stokmann and Origo are very close to each other.
